Off-topic posts

Recently, lots of AC posts have appeared that are about other articles. Now, there are two possibilities:

  1. Slashdot is confusing posts, threads, and authors, so it posts posts in the wrong articles, without an author. Unlikely, since Slashcode has been doing alright for ages.
  2. Someone is, using some program (or manually) reposting posts from other articles as ACs. Quite possible, but why try to make Slashdot unusable unless you hide AC posts? Does the perpetrator want to hide some specific AC posts by encouraging us to hide all AC posts? Also, I've been reading complaints about captchas on Slashdot, which might indicate that the editors have caught on to this, and are trying to combat the crapflooding.

Me, I think I'll go apply tinfoil to my walls now, to protect me from the Orbital Mind Control Lasers ;-)
