Submission + - first Annual Geek Awards coming to Philadelphia (

Submission + - Rim Playbook drives final nail in their own coffin (

nopainogain writes: Well, it seems that RIM, not content to die off in the presence of iPhones, iPads and Droids, has created an even more obsequious hunk of crap. The new Playbook offering, which industry fat-cat Verizon hasn't even confirmed they will offer, has no native email, and no cellular service opting for just wifi. But at least it's bigger than a 1988 Motorola right?

Submission + - Do resume upgrades work? (

nopainogain writes: I'm in IT operations with cisco and hints of security and linux and I get moderate hits on my resumes on the main job sites at a rate of about 3 a week. Most of the sites now offer paid-upgrading on a tiered platform like Gold service, Platinum service etc. I paid for one of these upgrades a couple months back when I started my current position. It didn't seem to generate any hits or increase in existing benchmarks. I know that when you pay for these upgrades, they (supposedly) typically move your resume headline to the top (or further up) search results used by employers but does this make a difference when it comes down to getting noticed to get hired?

It is easier to change the specification to fit the program than vice versa.
