+ - UK startup Colocker reinvents the data centre-> 15

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "Data centre colocation services have been around for years but one UK startup, Colocker, has reinvented the market with its new locker-based solution allowing clients to host any device they can imagine free from the constraints of traditional 19" equipment.

The Colocker facility, based in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire UK, is the first of its type in the world and provides clients with a secure 364x316x427mm locker in which to host absolutely anything. Suggestions so far have ranged from HP's line of micro servers right through to NAS storage units, Mac Minis and even Raspberry Pi's.

Each locker comes with a UPS-backed mains power feed and a gigabit Ethernet connection to the Internet. Users are free to add their own switch and power distribution if they wish to host multiple devices. Those already imagining the endless possibilities will be pleased to hear that pricing is per locker, regardless of its contents."

+ - Ecommerce with Catalyst - a post-project analysis

Submitted by
Denny
Denny writes "Perl is Alive has published a 'six months later' analysis of a Perl ecommerce project which used the popular Catalyst framework at its core. It's a well-written look at how, by choosing various components from CPAN, you can build up a complex custom-tailored system without having to write everything end-to-end yourself. The author concludes that they would "undoubtedly" make the same technology decisions again, given the success of this project, and the quality of 'modern' Perl libraries and frameworks which are now available from CPAN."

If I want your opinion, I'll ask you to fill out the necessary form.
