+ - British authorities shutdown the charity CAGE for it's anti War-on-Terror stance 1

Submitted by mal0rd
mal0rd (323126) writes "Today I was informed by This Day in Wikileaks that CAGE, a UK charity which campaigns against the War on Terror, has had its bank account closed and its two main backers are under investigation. People have drawn similarities between this and the banking blockade against WikiLeaks which began in 2010 after political pressure.

Cage is a tiny organisation based in London, operating off a budget of less than £300,000 a year. Some staff are Guantánamo survivors and campaign for the fair treatment and due process of terror suspects held in the military prison in Cuba. Their bank accounts have been closed since March, blocking donations and preventing payments to staff, due a complaint they are 'jihadi front that promotes bigotry and hatred’ but investigators said in April there is ‘no information to substantiate the complaint’, the charity claims."

+ - Astronomer Clowes discovers a group of quasars 4 billion light years across->

Submitted by

mal0rd writes "The NewScientist reports "A collection of galaxies that is a whopping four billion light years long is the biggest cosmic structure ever seen. The group is roughly one-twentieth the diameter of the observable universe – big enough to challenge a principle dating back to Einstein, that, on large scales, the universe looks the same in every direction."

For reference, Andromeda is only 2 million light years away."
