Submission + - Amazon's Secret Plan For Same Day Delivery (

lipanitech writes: The vision goes well beyond just groceries. Groceries are a Trojan Horse. The dirty secret of Amazon is that it really doesn't distinguish between a head of lettuce and a big screen TV. If Amazon can pull off same-day grocery delivery in NYC, it ostensibly means consumers can order anything online and receive it the same day. By logical extension, that means Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, is on the cusp of rendering every retailer on earth obsolete.

Submission + - HackRF, an open source SDR platform (

lipanitech writes: HackRF is an open source hardware project to build a Software Defined Radio (SDR) peripheral. SDR is the application of Digital Signal Processing to radio waveforms. It is similar to the software-based digital audio techniques that became popular a couple of decades ago. Just as a sound card in a computer digitizes audio waveforms, a software radio peripheral digitizes radio waveforms. It's like a very fast sound card with the speaker and microphone replaced by an antenna. A single software radio platform can be used to implement virtually any wireless technology (Bluetooth, ZigBee, cellular technologies, FM radio, etc.).

Submission + - 4chan Powers Kim Jong Un in Time's "Person of the Year" Poll (

lipanitech writes: "4chan A few days prior to his victory, the group used a script to cast votes so that the first letter of each candidate's name spelled out "KJUGASCHAMBERS." The user who created the script told The Daily Dot that the phrase was chosen because it's clever, referenced Hitler and "wasn't as childish as our second choice of KFCBUTTSEX." Time deserves credit for not invalidating the results because of the obvious "cheating" or even wagging a finger at those responsible for them."

Submission + - Buying back Best Buy Founder's plan to retake the company (

lipanitech writes: "Best Buy extends deadline for founder’s takeover bid to February. Best Buy founder and former CEO Richard Schulze, who is trying to buy his former company, had asked the retailer for an extra 30 days to conduct due diligence before decided whether to make a bid. Schulze was said to be working with three private-equity firms to offer a more appealing proposal to the company and had also been interested to see how Best Buy performed over the holiday season."
