Sports - This is where I think they would be useful for me.

I was skiing with my brother; between our spouses on the mountain, and tracking kids in ski school, we were trying to text, call etc. So, given all the gear you have on and the very cold weather, grabbing your phone out of your jacket is a problem. Having something like this, in the $150 - $250 dollar range seems like a reasonable solution to me.

No, I would not just wear them around, just like I would not wear ski goggles instead of sunglasses.

From the US perspective, I am always surprised at how education is consistently bashed, yet I know many people who have good careers, good income, live in nice cities, and in my view it is THANKS to public education, including the public university system (Univ. of California in my case.).

If so, I would want these for skiing, running, biking & so on. Otherwise, I would just pull out the phone to look at it. BTW, I am not a 24/7 phone junkie at all. But for example when skiing with family & friends, texting and calling is a big pain, but a heads-up display would be perfect.

I just skimmed TFA, but I didn't see any details of the electrochemistry. So this is only a guess, but I think the Al gets turned over to Al2O3, which provides the current to run the motor. If that is true, than you can't just recycle the spent mass, you have to convert it back to a metal, then you can recycle it. Doable, but not cheap.
