IBM Reveals New Virtual Linux Environment 96

Posted by ScuttleMonkey
from the pave-the-way dept.
jenwren1010 writes to mention that IBM has just announced the new open beta version of their virtual Linux environment that allows users to run x86 Linux programs on POWER processor-based IBM System p servers. "Designed to reduce power, cooling and space by consolidating x86 Linux workloads on System p servers, it will eventually be released as the [rolls-off-the-tongue] 'IBM System p Application Virtual Environment (System p AVE).' With a 31.5% global revenue share during 2006, IBM hopes to build on System p UNIX success and extend firmly into the Linux marketplace. Considering there are almost 2,800 applications that already run natively on Linux on System p servers, the chances are good that it will succeed."

+ - How Much Are Typos Costing You?

Submitted by tieTYT
tieTYT (989034) writes "Domain Name Wire reports on a startup that, on behalf of large trademark owners, is shutting down typosquatting websites using an unprecedented degree of automation. DNW editor Andrew Allemann writes, "CitizenHawk's TypoSquasher tool crawls the web in search of typos of a company's brand name. Whenever it finds an infringing domain name TypoSquasher captures evidence including screenshots, whois information, and how the domain is being monetized. It then automates legal processes to get control of the domain, including sending cease & desist letters and contacting the company that helps monetize the domain (such as a domain parking company)." There is also a tool on the CitizenHawk home page that lets you explore typosquatting domains around your trademark. For instance, there are at least 6795 domain names that contain the word Microsoft or some clear mispelling of it."

No marketing to speak of, hmmmm I guess some people are unaware of the secret world of supermarket checkout aisles. Hey, you know how when you go to the grocery store there are always the same certain items at the checkout aisle? Grocery store chains do not randomly select the same items from coast to coast...or do they. Talk about mass marketing.
