Went to London

[ #195442 ]

So, the last four days I was in London.

I absolutely need a 50% raise in order to cope the expenses over there ;-) It was fun, no London Fog(tm) or London Rain(tm), just bright friendly sunshine. We went to the classic tourist destinations (I never was in London before, wifey was). Went to see Avenue Q. I thought it was funny, my wife didn't like it all that much. I blame her English comprehension. Dear wifey spent a grand total of 400£ on Gucci Schoes and a Bradbury scarf at Harrods. (Savings? We don't need no fucking savings!)

I also know now that my PSP lasts over 6 hours while playing "Lemmings", and that on a not fully charged PSP and there is still life left. Yeah, we went with the train (Eurostar) which is really quite relaxing.

Oh, and as separate highlight: I met Tet! I didn't tell him, but he was pretty much as I imagined him. I was waiting outside of the pub (wearing an OpenBSD T-Shirt, just to make sure we wouldn't miss each other) and when I saw him strolling in my direction, I just knew "that *must* be Tet. It was. It was a fun meeting. We had a nice conversation about everything and nothing. Not quite bad for two "non-people-persons".

Now I've still got two days off.... Rest a bit, and Monday, back to work. *sigh*

  • When are you coming to Oslo? ;-)
    • When:
      1. I have Money
      2. I have Time
      3. The wife starts to nag for a city trip
If all of the above come together and she thinks that Oslo is a good idea, then we'll be over in no time.
      • Oslo's cool. You should go. The road system is hideous, and spins you around repeatedly in an attempt (mostly successful, I might add) to disorient you as much as possible. But apart from that, the place is great. The train between the city and Gardermoen is quick, cheap and clean. And the Vikingskipshuset and WW2 resistance museum are both well worth a visit.
        • I try not to make more than one city trip a year. It's not that I'm poor, but I'd rather not throw money out of the window. My wife wants a "large vacation" in "far far away" during summer (read: expensive) and as such, I really need to budget that in. We are saving for a house, you know.... Every euro spent on a vacation, is a euro I don't have for the house. I've been brought up that way. My wife was't, so I have to find the correct balance between "vacations" and "savings for the house".

          I will, ho

Heh... I know all about that one :-)
