I would say the exact opposite.

My personal phone is a nexus 5. I was given a blackberry z-10 as a work phone. In almost every way I prefer the Android. Better keyboard, better predective text. better sound quality, better screen, better camera...

I do like the blackberry hub, and in some ways I like the Blackberry approach to email.

In summary, I would say the Blackberry is a decent communication device and a crappy pocket computer. The Nexus 5 is an excellent pocket computer and a decent communication device.

I wish I had not just spent my last mod points. If someone is stupid enough to try and make a 3d printed gun (a opposed to machining one out of metal, as suggested below) let them blow themselves up. A gun is simple to make, Kirk made one from some bamboo, rocks and minerals...

But I absolutely, totally LOVE depth of field. Screw the art school graduates. I bought a large screen digital tv for the illusion of a window upon the world.

I would like to think -- I sincerely HOPE -- that artificially inducing audience "focus" by depth of field will be as quaint as silent movie captions in 50 years.

I had a good run of several hundred years though...

decent quality 50mm lens (widely known as a portrait lens because of its shallow depth of field)

Widely known where? Round these parts it's a 90 or a 105, assuming you're talking 35mm film.

I think the poster was talking crop sensor cameras, where a 50mm produces the same size image as a 75mm on a full frame (35mm) camera. On a side note, I never got the 50mm hysteria. I always found it either too long or too short when used with 35mm. It was a nice wide angle focal length on 4x5 though...

I once worked in a sign shop and we had a poster with thousands of fonts. Admittedly we did not use many of them, but occasionally one of the esoteric ones would be perfect for a job. These fonts, as well as being mathematical curiosities could be used for specific circumstances.

What do other slashdotters use? or should I just upgrade to an overkill pro account?
