Dark Night of the Soul, the hotly anticipated new album by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse, will be "released" as a blank recordable CD with a note encouraging fans to download it illegally from a a filesharing network. A legal dispute with EMI has prevented them from releasing it using traditional methods."

gnick (1211984) writes "CNN is reporting that GM has "unveiled" its plug-in hybrid, the Chevy Volt (discussed here before), due out in 2010. Released photos of the car have apparently disappointed several would-be owners as the design differs significantly from the original concept car and the show-room model does not look as "angular or aggressive". Links include plans from major manufacturers for similar releases with several concept car photos and a short article on the photos with a GM-sponsored video providing some additional details."

gnick (1211984) writes "Coskata, which is backed by General Motors and other investors, uses bacteria to convert almost any organic material, from corn husks (but not the corn itself) to municipal trash, into ethanol. If its claims are to be believed, two bales of hay can be turned into 5 gallons of 99.7% pure ethanol for about $1/gallon."

Some people claim that the UNIX learning curve is steep, but at least you only have to climb it once.
