I have read some horror stories here http://howgoodisthat.wordpress.com/2008/11/12/parallels-version-4-not-what-weve-been-waiting-for/#comment-1809 but really, what can we do when a well respected company decides to outsource and the result of something you have used for years suddenly becomes fodder?"

+ - Blatant diablo I II ripoff yet nobod seems to care

Submitted by gearloos
gearloos writes "In any other venue people scream at the slightest hint of a copyright violation yet in the gamer world it all seems to be "overlooked" because Diablo was the standard and set the measure that the genre was to be measured against. Well, I recently tried the demo version of Fate http://games.wildtangent.com/fate/ and WOW, what a blatant ripoff! You have to pick up items and then "identify" them, and use a "town portol". So I pose the question, what is the community feeling about intellectual property as it is posed as an idea? I know they probably made their own code base but what about the idea of a "town portol" etc... is that nothing to be worried about? Should the Diablo devs be concerned about this?"

+ - Circuit of the Future Keeps Blackouts Brief->

Submitted by gearloos
gearloos writes "The blackouts that attract attention are the ones that hit entire cities. But most of the time, only a handful of homes and businesses are left in the dark because of a failure of a distribution circuit. Now Southern California Edison is trying a "circuit of the future," using technologies that the utility says will limit the size of the area affected and shorten the length of a power failure.
