+ - Google scoping out fusion energy? "Solve for X" event suggests "Yes."

DerekShannon writes: Google hosted four fusion energy research groups at a "Solve for X Fusion Brainstorming" event on June 11th, and details are just starting to emerge. TriAlpha Energy (backed by Paul Allen), General Fusion (backed by Jeff Bezos), Lockheed Martin, and tiny Lawrenceville Plasma Physics (still waiting on a billionaire backer) all gave presentations on their progress towards the Holy Grail of energy. Solve for X has just released the talk by Lawrenceville Plasma Physics, in which the company's chief scientist claims their results have them leading the fusion race. With all four fusion groups hungry for cash, the event left attendees wondering: Will Google fund--and not just find--the route to unlimited clean energy?
