The proof of concept vehicle is able to fly for 12 minutes at a time, features its own on-board data storage and a 500 lumens projector. The company is already working on more sophisticated features, including live streaming data, pan and tilt projector controls and ultrasonic sound capabilities."

garymortimer (1882326) writes "The incident was first reported by Mick McCaffrey in the Sunday World. The newspaper reports that prisoners ran towards the drone and one of them was seen swallowing some of the packages contained in it.

It is expected the man will be charged with possession of illegal drugs but it is unknown where the drone was being controlled from or who was flying it."

It is marketing the device as a “riot control copter” that can tackle crowds “without endangering the lives of security staff”.

But the International Trade Union Confederation is horrified by the idea."

The $1300 quadcopter is currently sitting on the roof. Its owner knows this as he attached a GPS pet tracker for unexpected events. A different spin on the boy next door asking for his ball back."

The six month research project brings together leading research into the modelling and analysis of airflows around structures with advanced sensing, and guidance algorithms."

garymortimer (1882326) writes "Slated to come out in 2014 the Bebop is first to market with an interesting gimbleless camera stabilization process the camera is a f2.2 fish-eye lens with a 180-degree angle of view and a 14-megapixel sensor. A built in GoPro if you will.

It can capture video at 1080p full HD resolution; the AR.Drone 2.0 was limited to 720p. Video is recorded to the Bebop's 8GB of internal storage (there's no microSD or SD card slot) in MP4 format. The extra pixels allow users to digitally pan and zoom the picture. The camera is soft mounted to resist camera shake physically aiding image stabilization."

garymortimer (1882326) writes "In my opinion Christopher should have fessed up to his actions with the park authorities and they might have sent somebody roped up and suitably equipped to recover the Phantom from the tree.

It’s a great video, well made and interesting. Christopher, it’s not worth endangering the lives of others that might be involved in the recovery of an injured person in a compromised position or worse still a body.

Be careful out there people, your systems are just stuff. If you look through the video comments another YouTube user had the same experience at the Grand Canyon and his Phantom was stolen before he could get it recovered by a climber. Perhaps DJI should extend their no fly zones to include national parks."
