Ha. It is 7pm on Thursday night and I am still sitting in the office reading the slashdot firehose for the nth time where the bth time was already two letters too many. In which I saw your journal. As I am on the firehose and have excellent karma, I thought abut simply down modding it as my ritual of culling most stuff on the firehose that doesn't interest me - really, isn't that what every mod does on this site? But for some strange reason I clicked on the link - perhaps it was to reenforce the fact that in the firehose, the story title has two distinct functionalities for a mouse click - the first being to expand and collapse, and the second being to open the entry a'la the now extinct "Read More" link that was previously a straight forward and simple way to actually read more - I can just imagine the management meetings where it was decided to remove the obvious "Read More" link with the current functionality. Note that I now have to right click and open in a new tab in order to read more instead of being able to click a link labeled "Read More". Typical managerial decision there. Anyway, I thought I would just leave a quick comment to say that I agree totally with your assessment of Linux and its current state of antiuserbility. My Linux journey ended about 3 years ago (after starting in 1995) when I performed an update on my laptop which completely destroyed my ability to watch digital TV in Linux - I had no TV at the time. I am now of the opinion that if it wasn't for the developers, Linux would already be on the desktop of every computer. Linux would be great if it didn't just suck so much.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I actually enjoyed reading your post. I'll probably never read another one of yours. Cheers.
