I began writing in block letters (upper case only) at the end of my school time. After I got used to it I was as fast as in "normal" handwriting but could easily read it even when I was drunk, wrote in the dark or on uneven surfaces, ... even years later. The only problem was writing down computer specific instructions which were case sensitive. Mostly I use the workaround to underline the uppercase characters. A few weeks ago I found notices of my own and had estimated their origin two years ago and was suprised when I found out that they where over 8 years old.
