First time I have written in my journal so we will have to see if it generates any discussion. My gripe is small and simple. I think that the karma gain should only be 0.5. If this happens then viewing a discussion in threaded, highest scores first means you get what you asked for...the best comments. Not comments posted by people with karma which arent "bad" and so wont really be modded down. The thing is so many people have the +1 karma bonus it clutters the discussion and many good comments are not even seen to be modded up because there are 50 or more comments above. Well I know it isnt a big deal but if there is a lot of discussion over this maybe it will be implemented.
