Submission + - Jack Valenti, ex-MPAA boss, dies at 85

hoborocks writes: "Jack Valenti, the ex-boss of the MPAA who equated the VCR with the Boston Strangler, has died at 85. The CNN article doesn't mention the VCR quote, but does mention his greater and longer-lasting creation: the Movie Rating system. He was also involved in the presidency of Lyndon Johnson: "Valenti was in the motorcade, six cars behind the president, when Kennedy was assassinated. Less than an hour later, Johnson had hired Valenti as special assistant to the president, and the two men were flying to Washington aboard Air Force One.""
