Journal Journal: Conspiracy resets to ... conspiracy 28

It seems that some conservatives have finally looked at the calendar and realized that indeed the clock has run out on their previously strongly-held belief that President Barack "Lawnchair" Obama would institute single-payer health care during his administration. Now, some are taking that conspiracy and attaching it to their conspiracy about Hillary Clinton's campaign, claiming that she will implement what President Lawnchair was unwilling and unable to implement. This of course ignores the fact that Hillary has consistently been opposed to single payer, continues to oppose single payer, and is sponsored by Wall Street and the Insurance Industry (who also do better when single payer is repeatedly shot down).

Journal Journal: GOP trolling succeeds again 14

When GWB was president, we were told that we could not reveal plans for defeating enemies because it would "embolden" them (we learned later on that the truth of the matter was that no actual plans existed). Now with very high probability of the GOP not winning the white house in 2016 either, they are - as they often do - pretending that such a restriction never existed before and demanding that the democratic candidates (and POTUS) immediately reveal their plans for defeating ISIS.

As usual, because the democrats are cowardly, they have already started to cave in to those demands. We can't possibly imagine what tack the republicans will take against that in the coming months...

Journal Journal: The Kevlar Kandidate Sounds Off On ISIS 50

Scott "Kevlar" Walker has boldly taken a stance to discriminate against all Syrians .

"The state of Wisconsin will not accept new Syrian refugees"

He was interestingly (and not unusually) countered by reality in the article:

Walker's office didn't clarify what authority the State of Wisconsin would have to block the entry of a legal resident of the United States to the state or how state officials would even know if a refugee moved to Wisconsin

But he certainly won't let that get in the way.

There is also a handy running tally of which governors are stepping in this so far - a current total of 26, of which 25 are republicans and at least two are officially running for the presidential nomination. It almost seems like the kevlar kandidate is actually trying to make his neighbor from Minnesota look better

Journal Journal: Ben Carson Shows How To Lie 37

Conservative sweetheart Ben Carson has a bit of a problem with the truth (not that this is atypical for his party). He recently admitted to an all-out lie:

Ben Carson's campaign on Friday acknowledged he never applied nor was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point - a tale he included in his autobiography and that he has repeated since then, POLITICO reported on Friday.

Carson's campaign said the account of receiving a scholarship offer from the prestigious military school was a fabrication.

But, of course, as he has the correct consonant after his name, this is all fine and dandy, right?

campaign manager Barry Bennett told POLITICO in an email. "They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission."

Journal Journal: Keep it Spinning, No Matter What! 113

People who cannot get enough of the Benghazi non-troversy and carry around endless streams of conspiracies for it should be happy with this recent announcement from Representative Trey Gowdy :

It is one hour on the Republican side, one hour on the Democrat side, which is why youâ(TM)re going to see the next two dozen interviews done privately

If that equates to 48 hours of interviews, we have at least another two weeks worth of this circus before they give up and realize that they don't know anything that wasn't found by the previous eight investigations. Of course, being Washington, and being a witch hunt, they likely won't do more than one interview per day, which means this will go on for around another 5 weeks.

But of course, it is not a waste of money, because they are investigating a democrat.

Journal Journal: The Swartz is Not With Me 4

I occasionally underestimate just how popular that kid still is amongst the slashdot crowd. What a shame he didn't do anything with his life to benefit anyone other than himself.

Journal Journal: And I thought the conservatives LIKED Snowden... 4

I thought - especially from all the positive coverage he gets here on slashdot - that Edward Snowden was a popular figure with conservatives. After all, he did blow the whistle on a government activity that has only slightly higher approval ratings here than the bubonic plague. However, it appears that at least one slashdot conservative feels otherwise . Note that in the linked comment, it is claimed that President Barack "Lawnchair" Obama will be granting a pardon to Snowden on his way out the door. This requires a rather high degree of reality shredding to believe in, including:
  • Snowden would have to come back to the states to face charges before he could be pardoned
  • This would have to unfold before Obama leaves office in 2017
  • Obama would have to have some reason in mind for doing this (which he has never to date expressed)

Phil Urich (841393) has made you their friend.

I'll admit this hasn't happened in a while, I was really expecting that this was going to be someone instead either foe'ing me or dropping me as a friend. Welcome to the mess, Phil.

Journal Journal: Least Shocking News of the Week 13

become a Republican after "the Democratic Party left me."

Who said it? None other than the thrice-divorced symbol of traditional marriage inequality Kim Davis, that's who

Same article also mentions:

the Family Research Council honored her with the "Cost of Discipleship Award"

That sounds important, for sure.

Journal Journal: The Shortest/Longest Kampaign Ever

Officially, The Kevlar Kandidate sought the oval office for only 70 days (by comparison his friend The Teflon Candidate hung in there for all of 83 official days back in 2012).

That said, we knew The Kevlar Kandidate started his actual Kampaign over a year ago now but usually only the days after the "official" announcement count. It is also worth noting that Teflon Tim started his campaign over three years before election day .

The trouble with being poor is that it takes up all your time.
