So you dump stuff into a giant whirlpool and you're shocked to find that the stuff ends up in various random place. Maybe they thought it would magically disappear ? Oh sorry, we are talking about science.

I was looking at a river last fall and was shocked to see all the dead leaves agglomerated at a few random place.

So l do not really see a recycling/upgrading/replacing process.

An anonymous reader writes: There is an interesting note from AMD that hints to a closer relationship with ARM. The company will be hosting a developer conference in June, ARM will be holding one of the major keynotes and it appears that AMD is making sure that we aren't ignoring the implications of this appearance. So, could AMD be building ARM processors, or is AMD just rubbing Intel's nose in it? ARM-based AMD processors for smartphones combined with AMD GPUs could be an enticing opportunity for AMD.

StarCraft II To Be Released On July 27 220

Blizzard announced today that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, the first game in a series of three, will be released on July 27. The game will contain the Terran campaign (29 missions), the full multiplayer experience, and "several challenge-mode mini-games," with "focused goals designed to ease players into the basics of multiplayer strategies." It will launch alongside the revamped Battle.net, which we've previously discussed. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said, "We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe for many years, and we're excited that the time for that is almost here. Thanks to our beta testers, we're making great progress on the final stages of development, and we'll be ready to welcome players all over the world to StarCraft II and the new Battle.net in just a few months."

OpenTTD 1.0.0 has been released 6 years after work started on the first version, with the help of hundreds of contributors and thousands of testers/players. Over 30 language translations are considered complete, and OpenTTD is available for *BSD, Linux, Solaris and Windows. OpenTTD is a business simulation game in which the player is in control of a transport company and can compete against rival companies to make as much profit as possible by transporting passengers and various goods by road, rail, sea or air."

adminstring writes: Google cofounder Larry Page announces that the company aims to generate "renewable electricity at globally significant scale, and produce it cheaper than from coal." To achieve their stated goal of generating a gigawatt of power at 2 cents per kilowatt hour, they are partnering with eSolar on solar thermal technology and Makani Power on high-altitude wind power. The name of this new venture will be "REC" (Renewable Energy Cheaper Than Coal.)
