Yep, I'm a geek, and a girl. I'm also a college student. I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I'm happily attached [slashdot.org] to a great guy.

I never write here anymore. I'm bad. I do have another journal elsewhere, but I've been neglecting it as well. Too much shit going on in life.

One of my good friends is TS (M2F). She's also in the National Guard. Whoops. She's down at the local military post, hopefully being other-than-honorably discharged right now. I have no idea, since I have no contact with her currently, but I worry. She was supposed to leave me a key for her place, so I could clean it out if she was gone for more than a month, but didn't.

My best friend got kicked out of her house. She fell in love with an egotistical, anti-social "artist", and he treated her just as I figured he would. So, she's homeless, living with an ex-boyfriend until she can find a place. Anyone in Seattle have a room/studio for rent for under $500?

It's midterms at school as well. This quarter, I'm taking Japanese (and doing pretty miserably), Northwest Flora (re-taking it, blech) and History of Japanese Civilization. Japanese Civ has proven to be the *hardest* class I've ever taken. It's taught by the same teacher I have in Japanese, and she's a hard enough teacher in Japanese, but she is an absolute hardass when she's teaching in English. I just took the midterm in that class yesterday, and I don't have a good feeling about it. My midterm in Northwest Flora is tomorrow. Blech. I'm counting the weeks until school's out (5!!).

One last thing: People who give their credit cards to their son/daughter to go spend should die. What. The. Fuck. I got two of those yesterday at work!! We check ID on every card. No, even if you promise it's mommy's card, and not stolen, you still can't use it. No, you can't call mommy and ask. No, not "just this once". Just no!! I hate rich kids. When your clothes cost more than the retail clerk's entire paycheck, you have a problem. The best thing out of all of this was on one of the cards I refused, the kid's friend whipped out enough cash to pay for it. When I was 16, I would have *loved* to have $300 in cash, but then again, I had to work for money at an arcade, and never made more than $80 a paycheck. I'm 21 years old, and I still wouldn't have $300 to just carry around, even if I saved for a few months.

Finals, bleh.

Once again, it's finals time at school. For Japan 211, the final is tomorrow, so I'm desperately studying now, as I have to work tonight until ~12pm (Working in a mall during December sucks). (Thank you, U of V, for the very helpful kanji study guides) I should say, the written is tomorrow, the oral (which I'm incredibly frightened of) is on the 8th. Any Japanese speakers want to do an iChat audio chat and practice with me? ;) (Off-topic, why do I have such a fear of speaking Japanese to another person? I'm in my 2nd year of studies, and can write capably, yet have managed only to say "ni juu man en" to a person outside of my classmates.)

Edu 115 (Anti-Bias Strategies for the Classroom) has a 4 page paper due, um, this morning (love the sound of deadlines as they whoosh over my head), which I haven't quite started. The paper's topic is: Write a personal statement regarding the impact that anti-bias, culturally relevant and multicultural practices have on the developing child. Which would be great, except the book we're required to reference is written for K-5 educators, and I'm aiming toward teaching high school, so the paper will be of little use to my situation.

And First Aid/CPR would normally have a final tomorrow, except the instructor has been ill for 2 weeks now...what do you do if the teacher misses the final? Eesh.

Upcoming next quarter: Japanese 212, IASTU 102 (required multicultural class), CMU 282 (TV Studio Production) and Drama 282 (Advanced Video Editing, but yuk, they use Avid on PCs, I'm hoping what I learn will help with using FCE)

I didn't know I could be so bored, I couldn't sleep. I'm halfway through the 2nd season of Scrubs. It's only Wednesday, and I'm here, with the cats, for 3 more nights. Come home soon...

Life is funny.

So, I had spent a long time (3 years?) searching for a very old friend of mine from high school. Not a peep or a sighting of him for years. I'm usually very good at digging up info on people, and I couldn't find squat. After a fruitless, desperate search for him in my hometown *yesterday*, I had basically decided to give up. I figured he had died or moved to Wisconsin or something.

Of course, life loves to play tricks on you. I'm leaving work tonight, surprisingly, they had the 2nd floor doors locked at the mall, so I was forced to exit on the ground floor, which I did. As I was walking out, I hear someone calling my name, and see a familiar car (well, familiar dents in it, anyway)...and guess who it is? Yeah. Of course. What luck. So we talked for a while, and the sad thing is, after trying to find him for so long, he's so close to home, but moving to Spokane on Friday! What a bad deal. So we're going to hang out tomorrow (I'm going with him to sign his divorce papers, what a party...), and that's the last I'll see of him for a while. What a disappointment :( Oh well, at least I found him safe, sane, and leaving his evil wife who ruined his life.
