cvtan (752695) writes "Supposedly only 2.7% of the consumer goods purchased in the US have a "Made in China" label. You may find that tidbit hard to believe given all the moaning about how "Everything is made in China!", but this article points out important technologies and whole industries that have vanished from the US in its manufacturing decline. So should we all take up farming and New Age arts and crafts to survive? The Kindle is used as an example of a product that can no longer be manufactured in the US."
