Journal: Zoo is bad. 20

Journal by chainrust

Zoo appears to me to be CmdrTaco's thinking he may finally rid himself of the trolls. He has created a blacklist called No More Trolls in order to take advantage of assigning bonuses/penalties to foes of friends, which will make all trolls post at -1 to friends of No More Trolls. This may work, but Taco's other methods such as IP's being temporarily banned, permanently banned, anonymous cowards being linked to their IP, and two posts per day for IPs with negative karma, haven't worked.

However, it is a little black secret that the trolls won't be gone until anonymous posting isn't allowed anymore, or all proxies are banned. I don't forsee all proxies being banned ever, so even with all of Taco's assurance this won't happen, once Slashdot is eventually sold to AOL Time-Warner, as has been rumored repeatedly due to VA Linux's(parent company of Slashdot) leadership problems, employee dissention, and financial insolvency, AOL Time-Warner will require anonymous posting to be ended due to possible legal troubles, which AOL Time-Warner doesn't need any more of.

But, Zoo will wreck havok on the social structure of Slashdot. Various factions headed by users will splinter off from the main readership, and they will block people who dissent with the faction from being seen from members of the faction. The factions leaders will become the most influential people on Slashdot, replacing the editors as the major source of news/direction, and become meta-editors.

My view of the future:
Slashdot a year from now will consist of meta-editors posting journals with the necessary information for their factions, with enemy factions blocked off from posting to the journal. The meta-editors will also be in charge of making sure that all people who are in dissent with the faction are immeadiately added to the meda-editors foe list, so they can be blacklisted by the whole faction. The slashbots will be happy with the direction of the meta-editors, because it allows them to see what they want to see.

Scary, isn't it?
It may be too late to avoid this, as two warring blacklists have already started, No More Trolls (headed by CmdrTaco) and More Trolls, Please (headed by the insane klerck).
At least Taco will be able to eliminate a couple trolls...

thanks to Com2Kid, tps12, and sllort for inspiring this journal.

Journal: sllort 6

Journal by chainrust

I figure that I'll write a complete description of what sllort has been doing, because my investigation into it has reached its end without help from him. The only thing I don't understand is how he is brute forcing comments to SID 0, but as I said here, I'm not a l337 perl hacker. Someone found a method to view sllorts comments using reply, and someone else wasted their time viewing, cutting, copying and pasting his comments. It also appears sllort won't be posting for an long time, but you can still AIM him. I've had fun figuring all this out by my little self, and I hope all you did too.

Here is a recap of what sllort told me:
yesterday, in a conversation with sllort on aim, he said that he basically brute-forced comments to a sid in order to avoid modbombing (look at his old journal for more info on modbombing). I didn't ask how, because I am not a l337 perl hack3r and wouldn't understand it. but, for all you retards out there, that is the explanation.

Here are all sllorts comments (props to anon. coward):

Journal: Banned! 2

Journal by chainrust
I was banned for two days after my account was created due to a couple little anonymous trolls. Mysteriously, after I reported the bug on SourceForge the ban was lifted, but not before CmdrTaco closed the bug and had a chance to say I was full of shit. Anyways, research during my ban has helped me to create a basic posting policy. Here it is:

The Basic Posting Policy Everyone Should Follow
1. Never reply to an anonymous coward who doesn't sign their post
2. Always reply to comments in your journal
3. Always reply to your friends journals
4. Always post old comments from previous articles in order to karma whore. Links posts are harder to write, and easier to be caught copying and pasting from Google or other suckier search engines.

On a sadder note, one of the great old trolls, Anonymous Pancake, has left. After sdem's little scandal a couple months ago, then this, we have lost two of the leaders in trolling. I can only hope AP's retirement is actually just 'trolling of the trolls'. It appears various wankers and many possibly different anonymous cowards may have caused this retirement. With all the disappearing trolls over the last couple months, one must wonder: Does Mr. Malda have ties to the CIA ?
Anyhow, that's enough writing for a week.

Journal: Introduction 7

Journal by chainrust

This account is an experiment into trolling. If I enjoy trolling, and the trolling community accepts me, I will continue. However, if I am ridiculed because of my 'n00b'ness, I will return to my old non-account hermit ways. Just a little background.

Here is my plan for a trolling account:
1. Meet trolls, and absorb their knowledge
      (trolltalk, IRC)
2. Karma whore with links posts and other various karma whoring techniques.
3. Troll
4. PROFIT?!?!?!?

It's time to boot, do your boot ROMs know where your disk controllers are?
