I finally got tired enough of all the database problems that Blogger has been having to switch my site over too Wordpress. I picked Wordpress because it seemed the most light weight and flexible. I was able to easily edit only the index.php to change the look of my entire site and since Wordpress is standards compliant, it was easy to get my altered version to validate as XHTML 1.0. Several similar types of things have some crappy inflexible theme engine hard coded, and most of the rest where you can actually change stuff are so poorly written it's hard to tell what fuck is going on if you didn't write it yourself, and even then it still won't validate as any thing on the W3C website. Besides getting away from Blogger's problems, I at least have the option of expanding my site if I ever wanted to since now all the code is running on my server. Probably the best part was the simple import of my old blog which went flawlessly. If you have a blog I would highly recommend Wordpress. My blog is here
Well I finally graduated tech school, so now I'm officially a 3C031, and now I can leave the training bases behind. I'm at home on recruiters assistance right now, and I'll be reporting to Wright-Patterson Air Force base on the 11th. While I won't be a student any more, I still have to do my on the job training and my CDCs to get my five level, but at least I'm not a student any more, and don't have to put up with all the crap,
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I've been gone for about 2 months now. I've been gone to Air Force basic training. I just graduated to day, and the first thing I did on my base liberty afterwards was go to the AT&T cyberzone at the BX mini-mall, and read my e-mail. Now that I'm out of basic, I'll get some of my freedoms back, although I'll still be restricted some in tech school, but the restrictions ease over time, until I can get back around to a more normal life. Well, I don't want to wast my whole base lib writing, so I'll write more about what basic was like later.
Is it just me, or has any one else has trouble with Slashdot comeing up all wrong. By wrong, I mean the stuff in the middle over lapping with the left sidebar stuff, and some times on comments the page doesn't render any data at the top at all. just green and grey bars going aross the page at the , although the comments usually still render then. I've only had the problem with Firefox 0.8 om Windows XP, although the only other browser I've used is Safari on Mac OS X, but it hasn't ever messed up.
While I'm talking about Slashdot, I submitted a story about prelimianry suppory for a native version of AbiWord a few days ago, and it's still pending. I with they'd make up their mind, since they won't approve or dissaproved it and there still hasn't been anything in the Apple section about this story either. Maybe they're waiting for a slow news day.
Finally, I've moved my blog to junetech.com, incase anyone cares.
