Submission + - What exactly is the NRA plan?

bob_jordan writes: As a non-American, the stories I’m reading regarding the NRA stance on gun control are confusing. Are there any Americans willing to help me out on this?

According to the American National Institute for Mental Health (the largest institute for mental health studies in the world), an average US organisation has 20 employees and on average 4 of those employees will go on to develop a new mental health problem after 1 year.

The NRA says that the answer to protecting children from school shootings is to arm teachers.

So as far as I can tell (and please correct me if I am wrong) the idea is that teachers are checked for mental health issues and, assuming they have none, they are armed. At this point children in schools are safe.

However if the American National Institute for Mental Health is to be believed, in a small school with 20 teachers, on average 4 of those teachers will go on to develop a previously undiagnosed mental health issue after 1 year -

- and they are now armed.

Am I missing something?
