bluhatter writes: Symantec reports that the recent iPhone jailbreaking exploits point to possible vulnerabilities in the way PDFs parse fonts in mobile Safari, allowing an attacker to elevate root privileges on the device. These exploits affect the iPhone, iPad and iPod; it is unconfirmed whether or not this same vulnerability is shared by the desktop version of Safari.

+ - Microsoft to Patch Shortcut Vulnerability->

bluhatter writes: Microsoft announced on its security blog today that they plan to release a patch out of their normal release cycle ( first Tuesday of every month ) to address the shortcut vulnerability discovered in mid July. This signals that Microsoft acknowledges the severity of this vulnerability. The patch should be rolled out August 2 at 10AM PDT.
