+ - Best Buy Acquires Speakeasy

Submitted by blackbear
blackbear (587044) writes "Everyone's favorite retailer, Best Buy has acquired Speakeasy, Inc. for about $97M or "1.2 times Speakeasy's calendar year 2006 revenue..." according to a Speakeasy press release.

Speakeasy is well known for its partner program through which small (and large) consultants can receive a payout for each new service they sell. This acquisition raises the question of whether Best Buy will sell Speakeasy services in their retail stores and potentially cut into the revenue of current partners. Does this also signal a move by Best Buy in to the small business market, which is Speakeasy's primary business?"
