First Ever "Badass" Electric Car on Ebay f->

andyNola writes "If the term "hybrid car" brings to mind a frumpy grocery hauler like the Toyota Prius, you might want to take a look at this K-1 Attack, a "Soybean Porsche" tricked out to run on biodiesel, not by a team of eco-scientists, but a bunch of West Philadelphia high school kids who Popular Mechanics called one of the top 10 early contenders for the $10 million Automotive X Prize. Problem is, the non-profit West Philly Hybrid EVX Team has more enthusiasm than money, so they just put their street-legal, super-fast, "super-Eco friendly supercar" on eBay at an opening bid of $50,000 as a fundraiser to support their efforts to build a practical 100-MPG car for the masses. If it looks familiar: the Attack was the first-place finisher in the national 2005 and 2006 Tour De Sol, and has been featured in Rolling Stone, Discovery Channel (twice), and the CBS Evening News. This car is one of only 19 K-1 Attacks in the US, and certainly the most unique (how many cars get to be tested in Boeing's Wind Tunnel?)."
