+ - Android Moving Away from XMPP->

Submitted by am 2k
am 2k (217885) writes "Google has announced that the Android platform will no longer use XMPP. Instead, they want to develop their own protocol loosely based on it. The reasons they're giving on the web site have already been debunked by other mobile XMPP developers, leaving the XMPP developers to wonder about the real reasons for the surprising move.

Is this the new embrace-and-extend strategy of Google 'do no evil' Inc.?"
