Check out this news article - http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2009/04/29/4155550.htm - BroadSoft Receives Unified Communications(R) Magazine's 2008 Product of the Year Award - you'll want to find a provider who delivers "Hosted PBX" - ie, the telecoms/PBX part of "communications in the cloud", and find one of these service providers that attached Microsoft's Hosted Exchange and OCS. Depending on your country/region (I'm assuming US), you might want to look at Simple Signal, LIghtedge, or Momentum Telecom -they all have this today. I agree with your assessment completely - Unified Communications is very cool, but for the small/medium business, it makes a lot more sense to treat this as a service than to try to install it and manage it yourself.

Any program which runs right is obsolete.
