Sure, and that might work if you use Facebook in the browser, but it won't block these ads in the Facebook app — you'd need to jailbreak for that.

I hardly ever use Facebook anyway. Final straw; I'll be removing my account when I have the time to go through whatever byzantine procedure they have for making sure the damn thing is actually gone and not just disabled.

...and the developer does *not* have the right to add me to any mailing lists, or to do anything with that email address other than store it securely and use it to maintain customer records.

If Google does not require that of a developer, then they do not have the right to pass my email address on to them in the first place.

Or, at least, that's how it is for customers in the EU. By law. And, since Google have operations in the EU, they're required to obey that law, and not just say "well, that part's done by our US operation".

Anybody know if the Amazon app store does the same thing?

This isn't just about the average speed cameras, though — these are cameras specifically to scan and log registration numbers and match them against a database of "vehicles of interest" (untaxed, seen near scenes of crime, etc).

Naturally, the data gets kept for years even if a vehicle isn't on the watch list. Just in case, like.

That's what the fuss is about.

Everything I look at on System76's site mentions a display with a "super glossy surface". Fail.

At least Apple lets you have the option of matte on some of their machines.

(Plus I'm in the UK. System 76 ships from the US only, and doesn't cover taxes and import duties. So I have no idea what one of their machines would cost me until the moment it arrives — and if I decide the total's too much, I'd bet I can't ask the courier to return it and get a full refund of everything I've paid including shipping. I'd have to be either rich or desperate to not buy a Windows/Mac OS laptop to take that gamble.)
