Neil Armstrong flying over a boulder strewn crater and finding a suitable landing site on the fly vs. Philae happily flying into a hole.
Residential broadband networks were never engineered as video delivery systems.
Really? Ever hear of Verizon FIOS? The design of system to our house revolves around delivering video along side the internet...
How to get a Democrat into office
1) Get open primary so Democrats can vote for the biggest loser of the Republicans. Don't worry, the hand picked Democrat runner in the primary won't get kicked out.
2) In general election (especially in CA where only the top two can be in), point out what a loser the Republican is.
3) Sit back and relax while Democrat candidate is sworn in (probably again).
What if an electric car would have a space for this battery and a driver would only install this type of battery when going on a long drive (i.e., supplement the existing Li battery infrastructure instead of replacing it)??? That way you would have the best of both worlds, quick charging lithium batteries for short trips and alum. battery for long trips. Yes, the downside is more space reserved for batteries instead of cargo, but I think I would be willing to work with that... I can easily see installing this battery right before a long trip and returning it after the trip is finished.
Has this been verified? Is this poster even supposed to be posting data like this? Main news channels now repeat blogs true or not as facts, et tu Slashdot
We are not anti-fracking or anti-drilling. My goodness, we live in Texas.
Yeah, we love fracking! Now give us the 2.9 million dollars...
I've got your source right here: BP-DuPont Biofuels JV Takes Gevo to Court. Any questions?
Exactly right. This is how organizations and businesses view visitors to web sites now. They are not participants. They are consumers. We are not here to participate in discussions. We are here to consume advertising. The discussions are just a way to get our eyeballs to this web site and consume the crap they put in the margins. So they pretend to ""listen"" so we will say "OK, since you listened to us, we'll keep looking at your web site, increase your visitor count (sucker count), so we can convince advertisers to buy our ads.
If you really, truly want a refutation of Spencer's graph, I will give it to you.
The editor of the journal in which it was published resigned in protest (or penance?) for such a bad paper making it past peer-review.
And this refutation follows the scientific method how? And for the other responses to the graph are classic ad hominem, awesome! All I want is data which shows Spencer's graph to be incorrect.
The education that the kids are getting is EXACTLY what the parents asked for. As others have posted, the spending policies of CA school districts are dictated by the regional school boards and middle management. The teachers don't really get too much of a say on how the money is spent.
When you look at who is running these school boards and what policies they have for education, one would think a trained squirrel would come up with better plans. Millions in solar panels anyone (don't give me that shit about sustainability, they DONT HAVE THE FUCKING MONEY TO TAKE FROM THE CLASSROOM TO PAY FOR THIS!)? New pools at an existing school when a brand new one is built a mile or so away? Big screen TVs for the football field? And yet who shows up for school board meetings? Certainly not 99% of the parents who vote the school board clowns in. No, all that attend are either companies who want to extract money from taxpayer's pockets or the sycophants who applaud the clown school board directors like trained seals. And yet when these school board clowns dare show their face for school functions and for election campaigns, the people who actually show up for these events applaud them like trained seals; there is no correlation between idiotic school spending policies and the election of the people who implement them.
So should there be any surprise we get idiotic iPad giveaways such as this?
BBC is the closest news network to cover it?
You must be new to the United States media, where the local TV devotes far more airtime to crucial stories such as fucking Zippy the Wonder Dog which does backflips and where the local Pravda newspaper devotes front 5 pages to a local recycling effort. If you're lucky, I mean really really lucky, the local Prava may, just may, have an article buried in page A15 of a 30 page section to 2 paragraphs on something which may affect you.
Has Slashdot become a politics/crime board now?
Yes. Next question.
Here's the problem with this capitalistic idea. For every person who uses logic and reason and does not buy a (multi-player) game because it's not supported well, there are at least nine people standing behind him with cash already pulled out of their wallet ready to buy the game. Why? Because they want to play with their buddies, and all their buddies (especially the alpha ones) all are on-line playing that game. So in spite of all the game's and company's flaws, all logic and reason goes out the window, the game is purchased over and over and capitalism falls apart.
This strategy has worked wonders for the Xbox 360. I've seen people who's Xbox die over and over go out and buy a brand new console so they can continue to play Call of Duty with their friends, because the social aspect of the game is the most important thing to them
Google Analytics, DoubleClick, and Scorecard Research are tracking this web page. The irony meter just exploded!
...the phrase "News for Nerds. Stuff that matters." is not there anymore. And you have this stupid article up front which has absolutely nothing to do with nerds. Coincidence?
