+ - What to do with spare, aging PC hardware?

Submitted by Turzyx
Turzyx (1462339) writes "I recently decided to clear out my spare PC parts box. After discarding the broken and virtually antique (worthless) components, I was left with enough bits to build a couple of dual core AMD systems with reasonable specs.

These parts have been doing nothing for nearly 2 years; I've upgraded family members PCs with the bits that I could, and the going rates on eBay aren't worth the time and effort to list and post them...

Given that I will likely have to justify the additional power consumption to my wife at some point, is there anything worthwhile I can use this hardware for? So far I've considered creating a net/file server (which falls at the first hurdle), or perhaps a media centre for the front room. Any advances on these?"
It's funny. Laugh.

+ - Sexes show their true colours during downturn

Turzyx writes "

The BBC is running an article on the deflation of the UK economy. It appears that while staple products such as vegetables and general household bills are decreasing in price, women's clothing, footwear and video games markets are maintaining growth.

With the global economic downturn limiting expendable monthly income, have the two sexes resorted to stereotypical purchase trends to satisfy their boredom?
