I get why everybody is stocking up on tinfoil right now but based on what the NSA can supposedly do, hosting stuff internally isn't going to keep it away from them. After all, Microsoft is handing over all of the zero-day exploits and they are free to peruse the source to the Linux and BSD kernels.

Without developers maintaining editors/viewers, open formats are only slightly more usable than proprietary ones. 100 years is a really long time from now as far as technology goes. I wouldn't be so quick to say that open formats will still be easily accessible.

This project barely has anything to do with electronics. They had a box with a small display attached. They stuffed the raspberry pi and cables into the box. I get trying to promote things that are accessible for the less experience, but what in the article would actually help a newbie learn? It is a useless piece of fluff split over a few pages and is only there to garner page views.

It is only pointless if you are the one investing in and running CPUs and GPUs to do the mining. He isn't. Instead he is costing the users more than he is going to receive, but that is still more than nothing.

There are a lot of indies developing for the 3DS. Bob was an idiot for thinking that working on hacked systems for a few years would somehow get past Nintendo. They have even started to loosen some of the restrictions, such as office security.

Ghosting is often used to described the blur caused by pixels slowly transitioning from one state to the next. What is happening here is more along the lines of "image retention" than ghosting. A static charge can "preserve" the state of the pixels in some of the cheaper IPS panels. It isn't permanent like burn in but it is annoying and a much slower transition than the typical ghosting. It is funny that it has taken this long for the issue to gain attention. I'd seen the very same issues with their cinema displays a few years ago. Never understood how artists could swear by Apple if the colors don't transition correctly.
