DeCSS legal in Norway (rejected)

Tuesday January 07 2003, @05:14PM
Censorship

Yay! The Register reports that Jon Johansen (a.k.a. DVD Jon), the author of the program DeCSS (which allows one to watch DVDs on a Linux-based computer) has been acquitted of all charges in Norwegian court! The corresponding article can be found here. We can only hope that the US Supreme Court can show as much common sense.

Another possible slashcode page widening exploit

User Journal

Everybody knows about the 'really long line' exploit. So, I'm going to test a few exploits below which ride on that. (That exploit has recently been 'fixed'.)

Make your SB Live! think it's an Audigy 2

Saturday November 30 2002, @09:17PM
Hardware

Ever get that feeling that they were ripping you off, crippling your sound card, and just selling different drivers and adding connectors to the high-end ones? Turns out you were right! Our friends at mydrivers.com (warning, site in Chinese) have some drivers that will enable Audigy2 functionality on the SB Live!. Yet another point for the consumer, and yet another hit against crippled hardware. Greets to DarkwingDuck, our informant.

(resubmit into Journal, from submit story.)

New record... 2002-12-01 01:13:59 Make your SB Live! think it's an Audigy 2 (articles, hardware) (rejected)

And the editors say that their queue is filled to the brim, and they can't spend another 3 seconds clicking a reason. GAH.

GnuPG key

User Journal

I've finally gotten smart and grabbed GnuPG+KGPG. My public key will be posted in a comment, because I can't figure out how to get /. to display my public key that I put into preferences for squat. *shrug*

IRC Story, Yatta!

Saturday November 16 2002, @02:36AM
User Journal

Hm. I wrote this a while back over a few nights when I was feeling like Marvin the Paranoid Android (everyone has those days/weeks/months/whatevers), giving it to a few people on IRC, and intending to post it on Slashdot. Some people say that it's useful for explaining IRC to people who don't use it - I can see how. Clicky, oh, and no high-bandwidth stuff PLEASE, it's just being hosted on a cable connection right now. =/ And as to Yatta!, I saw it on the UF message boards, and now I have "Yat-ta, yat-ta, yat-ta, yat-ta", etc, stuck in my head. Excellent. Good night folks.
