An Angry Letter

United Nations to write an angry letter to Syria telling them how angry they are.
Sigh.
Actually the UN has written a tough resolution (to go with their other tough resolutions this year) to threaten economic penalties to the country if it doesn't give full cooperation to the UN for the purpose of investigating some high ranking officials accused of assasinating former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri.
This is a good first step. I like to see the UN make a resolution because it gives me the illusion that they will enforce them. Unfortunately all I ever hear the UN doing is passing resolutions, making statements and being peackeepers.
In my humble opinion passing resolutions equates to speaking your mind. Making statements is the same thing. Being a peacekeeping force is an [1]enabling solution.
I've seen this behavior before. It is dysfunctional and needs to be addressed.
This behavior I have seen in my family.
Do you seen dysfunctional behavior from the UN? If so, tell me. If not, help to clear the fog of disillusionment from my eyes. Keep in mind that I really, honestly want the UN to work. It would be better for everyone in my opinion.

Alas, when individual member nations go rogue and do boneheaded things like go galavanting into a soveriegn nation after thoroughly failing to make a case for the backing of the U.N., it tends to weaken the ties that bind and lessen the ability of the whole body to act in any useful manner.
It annoys me to no extent when Americans sit around whining about the U.N. just because

The UN is functioning precisely the way it should be. As a kind of clearing-house organization for the various powers and as a stamp of international approval for agendas.
