I have authored a simple, but remarkably effective Rsync based backup facility dubbed "Yet Another Rsync Backup Utility" (yarbu), available from sourceforge. home page [sourceforge.net], download [sourceforge.net].

Work
Currently conducting research into next generation optical data storage. I am sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

Working on the problem of transverse homogenisation of structured thin films. Soon to embark upon a fellowship researching novel optical data storage techniques.

Recently finished working with the SLAM project on novel data storage techniques.

Carried out proof of concept research for the Rutherford Laboratory for the proposed 4GLS free electron laser. http://www.4gls.ac.uk/
