Sorry for the shameless plug, but I have posted 2 unreleased songs and a video of my band, Power Symphony here.
I am using a Creative Commons license, by the way.

Power Symphony's sound can be described as a mixture between European Power Metal and American Modern Metal. Meaning: if you like Metal, give us a try!

By the way, this is material from our third yet unreleased album. You can find the other two at amazon, for example.

So, I would welcome any comments!

Comics Collector part 2

Thursday January 15 2004, @09:54AM
Anime

I repost the entry since people cannot reply anymore:

A friend of mine is a passionate comics collector. He is moving from his current home to a new one, and he wants to have an in-depth database of the comics he collected over the years.

What he needs is something more than a simple list of the titles, he wants the full credits and as much info as possible. He started doing it by hand but quickly figured out that having a 30 boxes of comics is maybe a bit too much. I suggested he uses a barcode scanner for the comics that have a barcode.

So here's the question: does anyone know of solutions that let you catalogue your comics using a barcode scanner, and get all the available info from that (authors, artists...), maybe using Amazon Webservices or a provided reference DB?

-----------------
New info:

Brady Jarvis suggested taking a look to: GNOME Comics Organizer which is very complete but lacks support for a barcode scanner.

CE informed me that comic book databases online do exist but do not support ISBN (i.e. the number returned by the barcode scanner) since only bookstore comics have one (as opposed to newsstand comics). It would still be good to have since about 50% of my friends comics have a barcode.

Could also someone post a comment? I just want to know if it works, someone told me it was impossible to post...

Buying a new computer

Wednesday June 04 2003, @10:36AM
Upgrades

Ok, so I'm gonna buy a new computer in a few weeks. I would like to spend around 1750 on it. This is what I want:
- I am gonna use it for games/internet/linux/win/programming
- It's gotta last 3 years at least
- No Windows bundled (I already have 2 originals!)
- It's gotta have a 17 inch, LCD display.

I am totally at a loss regarding the components. I would think a fast Intel would be better than AMD (that's because most music hardware has problems with AMD), and an Intel chipset on the MB is best for the same reason.
Regarding the video card, I've been advised to buy an ATI Radeon 9500.
What do you think? Do you have any suggestions?
