The periods don't get stripped out, but you can add them (and probably remove them) wherever you like and they'll still get sent to the correct account. If someone has the account firstname.lastname@example.org, then no one can register another account called email@example.com because gmail views them as the same.
Gmail silently ignores the periods in addresses, this means that these addresses all leads to the same mailbox.
Because it is so clear on Microsoft website which of the four editions includes Remote Desktop functionality.

When I broke my G15 I figured I might as well satisfy my do-it-myself itch it and build a detachable miniature lcd display with some basic winamp/media controls.
Just being able to see my mail inbox count or the last lines from PuTTy (perfect during long scripts) while having a fullscreen app running is wonderful.
