I lived for Saturday mornings on PBS during the 80s. They aired the McLaughlin Group followed by the Firing Line. That mentally charged atmosphere with John and the Gang would taper off to a quiescent hour long philosophical discussion with Buckley. From the buzz to the beliefs, that political dynamic was a coffee cup exhaustive roller coaster ride, braking to the finish line in soothing spurts of ideological rapture from Buckley.
