To mitigate the memory leaks (not actualy leaks, but a feature) in Firefox, go to the following url: about:config
Change the following settings as indicated:
browser.sessionhistory.max_entries=24
browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers=10
browser.tabs.loadInBackground=false
network.prefetch-next=false
