Here's the deal. Be civil, and I will be civil in return. But, if you try to use personal attacks in lieu of an argument, be prepared to learn what levels a personal attack can sink to. If you think this liberal is going to just turn the other cheek, you would be wrong.

I love them! I love them! They're so touchy, so easy to insult. They're rude, and they're Libertarian! They're not afraid to tell you what they think, and the more outrageous you get, the more worked up they get.

Truly, there is not a better bunch of folks to knock around than the terrifically uptight homeschoolers. It's almost as if each and every one of them subconsciously has a feeling their education is substandard, but their substandard education left them too stupid to actually know it. They get all emotional and defensive about their education without having the brains to understand why. All they can do is to fall back on the black and white libertarian rhetoric and accuse you of being a rube of the State, or a fool, or an agent of tyranny! I LOVE IT I LOVE IT this shit is so great I think I will just jack off right now.

But these poor fucks are just fucked. They are either mommies and daddies teaching their little squirts at home, or they are the little squirts who were taught by mommy and daddy. So if you criticize homeschooling, in effect you're telling mommy and daddy that they are lousy parents, or you're telling little squirt that their mamma's a dumbass and a poor teacher.

Good god this is just too good. I could seriously quit my job right now and start writing anti-homeschooling books just to make money off the shitstorm.

  • I'm one of those people who's 100% pro-homeschooling.

When you use it in addition to regular schooling.

Best of both worlds, and you build a work ethic and polymath sensibilities second to none.
    • Possible he's talking about the real redneck bible thumper types that ain't even "graduated the sixth grade"*... You know... The ones that will let their kids die from a common cold because they don't believe in medicine or take them to a doctor? They'll tell you "It's God's will" or some such crap.

*If brains was lard, that boy wouldn't have enough to grease a skillet.
    • I'm also 100% pro-homeschooling. I find that it doesn't conflict at all with my thrilling adventures in baiting idiots. Homeschooling is fine, and it can turn out some great students. Unfortunately the ones that aren't so great have some really enjoyable flaws.

  • Just kidding. But...

Seems to be a lot of it going around these days.

    • Now that's just well explained.

As far as political rhetoric goes, conservatives calling their enemies elites is a nice strategy, it fits perfectly with their morality. The label doesn't fit liberals, except that we oppose conservatives. No matter who opposes conservatives, it's good rhetoric. Elites want to meddle in the domain that rightfully belongs to the male head of the household, and is thus bad.
  • One of your Slashdot friends is a homeschool student. ;)
  • I think homeschooling is fine, provided you go into it with the goal of giving your kid the best possible education, and you really work at it. I think it sucks if you're doing it simply so that you can keep your kid from hearing about other viewpoints and ideas.

Sometimes I think about homeschooling my snowflake, because I'm weird enough to be able to dish out a reasonably balanced education. I can imagine doing things like teaching biology by spending a few summers volunteering with ecology and wildlife su
