Transportation Secretary Launches Blog->

Submitted by
Palal
Palal writes "As FCW reports, Mary Peters, the US Transportation Secretary launched a blog. "If I'm going to insist on twenty-first century solutions for our transportation system, I better communicate in a twenty-first century way!" Peters wrote. At the time of this writing, it appears, however, that the blog is not accessible to the general public, or it's been DDOS'ed, as the blog address turns up a blank page. If DDOS is the 21st century way of communicating, I can only imagine what kind of 21st Century transportation improvements we can count on. This is the fourth government blog. Michael Chertoff was the first with his TSA blog, as previously reported on Slashdot, with changes steming from blog comments"

Virgin America to use Open Source games for IFE

Submitted by

Palal writes "On it's new website, Virgin America writes about some of the in-flight amenities that it would offer if the Department of Transportation allows it to operate. One of the interesting things on the list is "The Red System". Besides RJ-45 sockets, WiFi and touch-screen In-Flight Entertainment system (IFE), the Airline is promising to have games. "games — a batch of open source games and an upcoming public invitation for savvy ground-based Linux game designers to try their hand designing games and in-flight applications for the Red System." Now all they need is DOT's approval."
