Submission + - I am a mentally ill out of work programmer down on his luck->

Orion Blastar writes: I've been out of work since 2002, cannot think anything but negative thoughts. I've been trying to be positive, develop people skills and social skills. There hasn't been much help just "either kill yourself or stop whining" when I ask on the Internet. I take responsibility for my failures, mistakes, and bad decisions. I want to improve and become better.

I tried doing things. my own version of GNU/Linux based on Ubuntu. My own free songs. my own software organization. my own foreign website I work with others who are unemployed.

I could never get the funding to make these websites into startups. I have failed at everything I tried to do.

I don't know what else to do, I have run out of ideas.

Submission + - Kuro5hin DNS servers are Down, use alternatives.-> 4 4

Orion Blastar writes: Use the link to get a reverse proxy to read this is a free service by Blastar of India and China.

I think the DNS has been hacked or something... or he's triggered a transfer. lol

just add into your /etc/hosts file

To get working again.

The domain won't let you log in because the cookie is for so as soon as you log in, you will be logged out. You can only view the web proxy as an anonymous user. The hosts file update needs admin access in Windows. Look in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or /etc/hosts for Unix systems.

Some possible causes of this problem:

1) Rusty didn't enter his real information and Internic is punishing him until he enters contact info that is real.

2) There is some social engineering hack to trigger a domain name transfer.

3) Rusty didn't pay his name server and DNS hosting bills.

4) Some hack attempts on the domain name, and maybe DoS attacks.

5) That hacker NIWS aka Jason P. has a grudge against Rusty and did something to the servers that do his DNS and name servers.

Submission + - The Linux Rebellion 2013->

Orion Blastar writes: "In the year 2013 there may be a Linux Rebellion as people get tired of the same old song and dance by Microsoft and Apple.

A new operating system, shutting out older systems, and breaking compatibility with older software. Is there an alternative to Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.8? Yeah it is called Linux, and it even supports older systems.

Video game makers like Valve Software may be porting their video games to Linux because of the way Windows 8 breaks compatibility and changes the way the GUI works. The Steam Linux client will be in beta testing soon. Maybe in 2013 it will be done and The Linux Rebellion can start at least for video game players."
