+ - PC Control via iPhone (freeware)->

Nightlight3 writes "While there were some simple ports of the VNC for iPhone since last fall, their painfully slow screen updates made them completely unusable. After trying a commercial remote desktop app with not much better performance, I figured that a usable iPhone javascript remote desktop can't be done. Few days ago a chess buddy showed me his iPhone playing smoothly a full, grandmaster strength chess program which was running on his XP. He was using a new freeware iPhone desktop control PC2ME. Surprised with its apparent speed, I tested it with the packet grabber and measured its screen updates at 2-3 times per second, while the payload sizes ranged from 200-500 bytes/update for typing in Textpad or for Windows clock, to 8-12K for a complete screen change. It was quite snappy even over the sluggish EDGE network."
