Comment Most of the DOJ originates at the RIAA (Score 1) 528

I don't remember the exact figures and I'm too lazy to look it up, but if I recall, 4 members of the Department of Justice was actually hired from the RIAA by Obama.

Someone should take actions to guarantee that the members of the DOJ can not for the rest of their lives collect money or gifts from the RIAA or MPAA since I'm almost 100% certain that all the guys that started at the RIAA over there will be moving into massive corner offices at RIAA when they're done with their 4-8 years.

It's probably about time someone started an investigation into the DOJ with regards to their possibly illegal ties to the RIAA. I'm no expert on the topic, but it seems to me that lawyers that came from the RIAA into the DOJ interfering with huge case like this IN FAVOR OF the RIAA just screams out corruption to me.

I like Obama, but I knew when he started hiring these guys that there would eventually be a scandal attached to it.

Journal Journal: Ubuntu notifications: astoundingly annoying!

It sounded like an interesting idea. Smart people, trying to make a cool thing, and I mean no disrepect. But the reality of constant pop-up notifications in Ubuntu 9.04 is to make me curse it as acting like Windows. Maybe not *exactly* like Windows, but in spirit. "Obnoxious and intrusive" surely is not the intent of the programmers and designers, but that's how it comes off to me. However, the vast majority of them are just from Jabb

How exactly do the websites getting slammed with this bullshit traffic "not even install this part of the program" and "if you don't like it don't use it"?

Did you miss this part: (on Slashdot, we're seeing them as like 6% of our page traffic now)

So how does Slashdot "just not use" the AVG product and recover that 6% of their page traffic again?

The complaint is that they are "spamming the internet with deceptive traffic". That's a server/hosting complaint, not a user complaint about some user who can't figure out how to disable that feature.

Kudos on getting a "4 Insightful" for a ridiculously inapplicable and nonsensical response though!
