Mr. Underbridge writes "OK, slashdot — there are a number of us who are interested in the happenings of the night sky at around 9:00 EDT. So with much of the eastern continental US observing a strange red/pink light in the night sky, what is it? It sort of resembles an aurora borealis — but not. It's also visible at least as far south as Georgia.
