Ask SlashDot: Life After Firefox 3.6.x? 2

Submitted by Mooga
Mooga writes "I am a hard-core user of Firefox 3.6.x who has chosen to stick with the older, yet supported version of Firefox for many years now. However, 3.6.x will soon hit end of life making my life, and others, much more complicated. 3.6.x has been known for generally being more stable and using less ram then the modern Firefox 10 and even Chrome. The older version of Firefox is already having issues rendering modern websites. What are others who have been holding onto 3.6.x plan on doing?"

Submitted by Mooga
Mooga writes "The official site has announced that Fortress Forever will be released by the end of the month. Fortress Forever is a free Team Fortress mod for the source engine. Unlike TF2, which is scheduled to be released on October 9th, Fortress Forever is more true to Team Fortress Classic and will feature grenades for all the main classes as well as conc jumping and bunny hopping. Fortress Forever is aimed at both new players and long-time players of Team Fortress games."

Media Center GUIs 1

Mooga writes "I have a computer set up to a TV via s-video. I've been using it to watch videos found on my network as well as local games and emulators. The problem is that browsing through folders for files is hard to do since small text appears very blurry on the TV screen. I've tried searching for free Window front ends which would make it easier to scroll through programs and files on a TV screen. I've considered switching over to LinuxMCE, but I'm worried about its compatibility to windows as well as it's ability to handle the games and hardware that I will be using. I also have little experience with Linux and would rather use a Windows front end for the time being. Is there any windows software that will let me easily view and access files and programs on an older TV screen?"
