Do you know why Linux seems to do so much better on VM NIC performance?

Honestly curious, not trying to troll. In my ESXi tests I can manage more than double the throughput on a Linux VM compared to a BSD VM. Is there just crappy paravirtual NIC support in BSD?

Tests were done with IPFIre and pfSense on two different ESXi boxes, and going to virtual client/server on etiher end of the router to avoid gigabit wire speed limits. On my slower box, i got 6xxMB/s with pfsense and 2.xxGB/s with IPFire. Minimal speed difference in either OS when using vmnet3 vs e1000. e1000 offered minimal throughput increase, vmxnet3 offered minimal host CPU usage decrease.

Why make your point with an attack on Slashdotters? What value did that add?

Also what makes you so informed in the details of this situation that you can say he's being made an example of fairly? From the information on the web, this infantile woman can't get along with anybody in the workplace, and cried wolf. What about the investigation which basially came up with nothing? What about all the details in her story that were left out and revealed elsewhere?

Before you hop on the fact that the founder resigned, picture yourself in his very situation. Now imagine you're not guilty and being attacked by some woman and her public faux-feminist bullshit. In this same situation, guilty or not, would you stick around and potentially do more harm than good to the company you founded?

All the Mint talk in here reminds me of a funny comment in a slashdot article from a while back, forget where or who, but I saved it:

Is anyone aware of similar issues with Mint?
Yes. It converts you into a mindless drone who must recommend Mint in every turn when Ubuntu is mentioned.
Side effects include chanting the line "I switched to Mint and have never looked back."

I agree, there couldn't be anything easier to migrate to Linux-wise than Deb (or deriv.) + LXDE. Lubuntu would fit the bill perfectly there.

There's also Crunchbang with just OpenBox which I happily run for my personal desktops, but I fear the lack of any sort of start button puts us back into the Windows 8.0 fiasco at the hands of a fresh Microsoft refugee.
