Help me convince bosses of validity of OSS

Mauzl writes "I'm currently involved in a discussion with management at the company I work for over changes to the software we use. In part of the discussion, this sentiment was shared in an email by management:
"Either way, #the company# is part of a large media company. We should not be operating on "Free" software and every effort should be made to bring all Business units into line with General IT Policy."
I'm writing an email to attempt to change their minds, but I'm having difficulty finding enough information to show my point. I believe examples of large organisations using OSS would help sway them. Can you help?"
