+ - Which graphics card should I get as a linux gamer? 1

Submitted by Lanteran
Lanteran (1883836) writes "Yes, I am the contradiction, the linux gamer. Anyway, I'm pretty much (for now) locked into nVidia for the brand, my main issue is over which series. Basically, I can get a fairly high end card in the GeForce 9 or 200 series or an entry level GeForce 430 (unless anyone can find a good price for a used 450). Ordinarily I'd just get a 270 or 280, but I like to buy hardware that lasts for a good few years, and I'm cautious since if I got a 400 series card, I'd at least have OpenGL 4.0 and DX11 (when wine supports it) for years to come, whereas I'd be stuck a generation behind with anything older."
